Summer kimono in burgundy with a geometric checkered pattern.
This garment is a traditional Japanese item from the Sanbi brand, made with a mix of 60% acetate and 40% cupro. Unlike pure synthetic fabrics (such as polyester or nylon, which are derived from petroleum), cellulose-based artificial materials like these allow the body to breathe much better.

 

  • Burgundy / Amaranth Red (of the outer fabric): This intense shade of red (historically close to the hues obtained from safflower, or benibana) symbolizes maturity, luxury, happiness, and protection against evil spirits. In kimonos, darker and wine-red shades are traditionally associated with refined adult elegance.
  • Light Grey / Pale Celadon (of the lining): Represents sobriety, calmness, and purity. The Japanese love the concept of iki (a subtle and never ostentatious elegance), which is why the interior of a garment is often rendered in soft and calming tones, designed to harmonize in a refined yet invisible way with the exterior.
